About Lucia

Lucia Frangione has spent her life telling stories that get under the skin. An acclaimed playwright, actor, screenwriter and author, she is one of Canada’s most distinctive storytellers. Her work has earned national and international recognition, including the Sydney J. Risk Prize and multiple Jessie Award nominations, with productions staged across Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia.

Lucia has a gift for finding the fault lines beneath ordinary lives. She brings language to the truths we often sense but rarely say aloud, creating work that is fearless, tender and difficult to ignore.

Lucia will tell the story of the moments when the words she had been using to describe herself no longer fit. The moments when staying true to her calling meant changing course. Going back to school. Falling in love. Becoming a voice for change. Letting go of one version of herself so another could emerge.

Why do I believe what I believe, and do I still believe it now? Are my sources sound? Am I embracing the discomfort of facing the unknown? Are the questions in my work fearless and honest? Am I creating from a humble and generous place?
